Well, I would be quite happy with way less myself ! :dropjaw:
Wow. The mother load.
I had a good haul in stones once, but nothing like that.!
For a package deal, that is a pretty sweet package deal! :)
Have fun honing and getting to know them.
Thank you all for the kind words - lapped the cotis this afternoon - 3 or 4 were unused , rest had seen little use - there is a 'la veinette' and a 'la verte' and two 'la grosse jaune' - will ask Maurice at Ardennes what the speckled one and the boxed one cld be...lapped the little boxed french hone as well - sticker on top is missing - looks like a thuri - anybody who can identify the logo plse ?Attachment 309474Attachment 309475
Yep, quite the haul. I guess it makes sense that one would find all those coti's in Belgium.(i'm going to have to visit there someday). Just like we find Arky's here in the U.S. (still i don't think i've ever seen that many stones in one place.)
I was always taught, and have been under the assumption, that the Chalice signifies that the stone is an Escher.
Pete <:-}
Yup, that's an Escher.
Nice haul :tu
@tintin - yes this is the coticule county - vintage ones can be found on any garage sale over here - no one has any idea about the value so prices range from 6 to 15 euro a piece - I happen to known a 87 year old hoarder who claims to have a banana cardboard box full of two tone hones (he started collecting in 1973) - The only thing is that he can't recall where he left the box but it is somewhere in the house - he promised me he'll let me know asa he dug em up , so I am looking forward for a call...The only problem will be the wife though ... she doesn't understand why we need more than 1 hone and razor :(
You’re kidding about the boxed stone, right?
The others that may be of interest are the brown/purple ones, especially the large and the dark small one.
Super nice haul. Enjoy.
Lapped the large one - turns out to be a grey stone when dry and brownish when wet - very soapy texture - easy to slurry - hard stone , took me quite a while to flatten - refreshed a 6/8 Gebr Lottmann , Cassel - ended with clear water - hht off the stone was not very spectacular (2 to 3) but after a proper stropping 3 to 4 - will give it a try on the whiskers later . Does anyone know if this cld be Attachment 309499Attachment 309500Attachment 309501a Thuri ? Pics were taken in direct sunlight to give an idea. Thanks
Purple one might be a Rouge de Salme.
